It’s great fun for all, whether you are getting your hands sticky and licking the spoon or bowl or you are watching the kids cook up a storm.
Recipes and children’s parties are tailored to the child’s age and specific requirements. If the ages of the children vary at the party, assistance is given to those who require help while capable cooks are free to explore their own abilities.
Children dress up in chef hats and aprons, have their own bowl and make the recipe chosen by the birthday child (usually a sweet treat).
What they cook becomes their take-home gift therefore lolly bags etc are not necessary.
After the session, while the kitchen crew clean up and bake the children’s creations, the children move on to the party room for party food which is included in the price.
To end the fast-moving and action-packed children’s party, age appropriate games and dancing is held in our upstairs games room. Games include bubble catching and bursting, musical bobs, pass the parcel, treasure hunt, wink murder, duck duck goose, ship shark shore, statues, hokey pokey and simon says.
Apart from the take-home cooking item selected by the birthday child, lolly bags are available if ordered by the host. These comprise a small bag of mixed chocolates and may contain a cooking item. If advised we can substitute the chocolates for a non-dairy, gelatine-free alternative.
Please note no nuts are used at Gourmet Kids.
But we do advise that manufacturers carry warnings on the packaging of cocoa and chocolate (which we use in baking and also in our optional lolly bags) that these products may contain a trace of nuts as a result of the production process.
We use optional sesame seeds in one recipe only, cheese straws.
